Dave Carter
Tuatara trumpet player and Jazz sideman Dave Carter finally steps out with his first solo album, “Commitment And Change.” Co-produced by Dave and Drummer/Composer/Fast Horse Recordings founder Barrett Martin, Dave’s debut album is certain to entrance and entertain the listener.
Recently relocated to the San Francisco area from Seattle, WA, Dave spent many years recording and performing with artists such as Wayne Horvitz, Bill Frisell, Skerik, Robin Holcomb, Tim Young, Amy Denio, Aiko Shimada, and Eyvand Kang to just name a few. As a key member of Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet, Dave recorded trumpet on 2 critically acclaimed records and has toured throughout the US as well as Japan. He has also made appearances on over 30 other records to date.
The songs on "Commitment and Change" were all written within the last 2 years, with many of them written in the last year. According to Dave, "This universal theme kept coming up when thinking about a title for the album. The idea of commitment and change has meaning from the granule level of improvising with intent and commitment, to the broader level of decision-making in life. I think the songs reflect this.
In addition to co-producing the album, Barrett Martin contributed drums, percussion, and vibes to the recording. Joining Barrett is John Rangel on piano and keyboards, and Luis Guerra on upright bass. They each contributed unique and amazing ideas to the recording and brought the songs to life. Available in May worldwide, exclusively on Fast Horse Recordings.
